On May 7, 2022, the Signing and Awarding Ceremony of the Scientific and Technological Innovation Talent Team for Intelligent Bridge Inspection and Maintenance of in Guizhou Mountainous Areas and the First Working Meeting were successfully held in Qingzhen Campus of Guizhou Communications Polytechnic. Dr. Yong Jihui, vice president of corporate strategy of Guimu Robot, attended in the awarding ceremony on behalf of the company.

The Construction of Scientific and Technological Innovation Talents for Intelligent Bridge Inspection and Maintenance in Guizhou Mountainous Areas is one of the 10 key projects selected by the Science and Technology Department of Guizhou Province from more than 100 candidate projects. According to the topics arrangement, Guimu Robot, as one of the seven participants, will work closely with Guizhou Communications Polytechnic – the project undertaker to study the positioning and navigation method, synchronous image acquisition and transmission technology, image processing, and identification algorithm design, etc. in the bridge operation period in view of the unique geological landforms, climatic conditions, frequent natural disasters, transportation overruns, accumulated bridge diseases encountered since the beginning of service, and continuous deterioration in the safety and health of bridge structure. They also will apply relevant technologies to the whole process of bridge maintenance and promote the digital and intelligent inspection for bridges.

In this cooperation, the two parties will jointly drive the deep integration of “industries, universities, institutes, users, innovations and training”, give full play to the advantages of industries, specialties, disciplines and talents, explore collaborative innovation mechanisms, integrate the resources and optimize their allocation, focus on the technical and service demand for industrial transformation and updating in key industries and key fields, implement industry-university-institute cooperation in intelligent operation and maintenance of major transportation infrastructure based on intelligent robotics, artificial intelligence, and big data technologies, and incubate and transform scientific and technological achievements.

It is reported that Guizhou Communications Polytechnic is a vocational college of science and technology characterized by transportation. With a long history of operation, outstanding professional characteristics and strong faculty, it has provided nearly 100,000 transportation construction talents to the society over the past 60 years, and made contributions to the grate development and leap of transportation in Guizhou and even the whole country. It is known as “the cradle of transportation talents in Guizhou”.
