On June 10, 2022, the Kick-off Meeting of Roadshow on Achievements of the 13th Five-Year Plan on Technology and Innovation and the First Roadshow, organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, was successfully held in Beijing through online live broadcast.
Since the “13th Five-Year Plan” was implemented, the Ministry of Science and Technology has fully implemented the decisions and plans of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, and has obtained a number of high-quality scientific and technological achievements based on the Plan on Technology and Innovation. The achievement of Guimu Robot – Digital and Intelligent Operation and Maintenance Solutions for Transportation Infrastructure Based on Intelligent Robot – was selected into the first roadshow.
Shao Xinyu, member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, said that the Party Central Committee and the State Council put a new premium on the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and achieved remarkable results. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has attached great importance to scientific and technological innovations, promoted the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and placed it in a very important position in the decisions and plans. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that we should innovate the transformation mechanism of scientific and technological achievements, and give full scope to enterprises as the main actors and the government as a leading role to jointly promote the leapfrog development of China’s strategic emerging industries.
At the roadshow, Dr. Gui Zhongcheng, the founder of Guimu Robot, shared the company’s latest project achievements: in order to address a series of pain points in existing conventional inspection means for airports, highways and other transportation infrastructure, such as low efficiency, poor accuracy, high subjectivity and heavy experience dependence, with the support of national and industry policies, Guimu Robot has launched precise and intelligent inspection and construction methods, as well as digitally driven solutions for infrastructure health management, safety warning and scientific decision-making, directly attacking the pain points of the industry and leading the digital and intelligent transformation of the industry.
At this stage, Guimu Robot has also been supported by a series of national, provincial and ministerial research projects in terms of its technological research and development, including two national key R&D projects led and participated by Guimu Robot in 2019: “Intelligent Robot” Project in the National Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and “Civil Aviation Joint Research Fund Project” of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. In terms of industry standards, Guimu Robot has actively participates in the development of civil aviation, highway and other standards for promoting the digital and intelligent operation and maintenance of transportation infrastructure.
As for products, the world’s first pavement inspection robot of Guimu Robot is one of the major project achievements, and has been applied on scale at present. It has acquired the inspection data of 20 million+ square meters of airports and 3,000+ kilometers of highways, accumulating a huge amount of high-quality data and samples. At the same time, Guimu Robot has developed an industry-first integrated SAAS platform based on comprehensive and accurate pavement structure data, which enables health analysis and assessment, early warning and digital twin modeling for transport infrastructure, and provides cloud-based sharing of health data, expert diagnosis and consultation, and integrated services for management and maintenance.
After more than continuous five years of development, Guimu Robot has applied for a total of 358 patents (180 invention patents) and was granted 152 patents (17 invention patents). It has applied these patents to its products and successfully launched bridge cable inspection robot, tunnel inspection robot, high-speed rail cantilever installation robot and other products and solutions for digital and intelligent operation and maintenance of transportation infrastructure. These products and solutions have been applied in more than a quarter of airports in China and highway systems in 15 provinces and cities, with high recognition from users.
After the sharing, plenty of investment institutions expressed their interest in the technologies of Guimu Robot, and communicated with Dr. Gui Zhongcheng online. In response to some questions from industry partners and investment institutions, Dr. Gui Zhongcheng said that Guimu Robot, as a leader in the infrastructure operation and maintenance sector, mainly provides the integrated robotics-featured solutions with hardware, software and data consulting, and at present, the data accuracy and value are in the leading position in the world. In the future, Guimu Robot will continue to make independent innovations, build an open cooperation ecosystem for industries, universities, institutes and users around the world, uphold the concept of “wisdom is great for creating peace”, guarantee the safe and efficient operation of major transportation infrastructure with innovative technologies and solutions, and cooperate with industry partners to boom the development of science and technology in China.
